My mom made me a gorgeous huge knitted blanket..I believe it’s a synthetic type wool. How do I wash it? Is it ok to just wash it on gentle cycle and drape it over something to dry?

if its what i generally do i would think you can use the washer and dryer and it would be ok. but i would give her call and ask her its easier but now days they generally have the type of yarn that is easy not like years by gone.
yes the gentle cycle would be ok, but if you still feel wary about it, take it to the dry cleaner
I’ve had one that I made that’s ten years old and I always wash it on cool water in cycle delicate in the washing machine…..I also dry it in the dryer on air without heat…it has stayed almost exactly the same but has stretched a bit, but that could be from the excessive use.
Use Woolite…A detergent specifically for this…Any washmachine might ruin the blanket…Fill up the bath tub…Put the blanket in the tub…Pour in the Woolite…or Follow the intructions on the bottle…Hang dry…Good Luck
I have one that I crocheted. I wash it on the delicate cycle in the machine and dry it on delicate. It’s held up for about 10 years.
if you’re nervous, check with your mom. All yarns have laundering instructions on the skein.
I have washed a knitted blanket in my washing machine but i have those new, gentler front loading washers. I then put the blanket in the dryer – i think it may have shrunk very slightly but thats it. Mine is made of accrilic wool. hope that helps. Ask your mum – mums always know!!
