I’m thinking of a wall to get rid of a yellow icon smack in the middle of my red “virgin wool” blanket.

I wouldn’t mind the wool being any amount of random colors or shades, as long as it feels the same and doesn’t have said icon in the middle of it.

Can I dye it black or something of the sort to darken it? Would the dyed icon in the center remain visible? Would it come back after wear?

I understand bleach isn’t something you can use as it will destroy the wool.

(I like plain things.)

You’d probably be better off if you covered it instead with another piece of fabric in a complementary color or had a simple applique sewn on top.

The icon will never go away. It will take the dye you use, but in weird colors.

I’d never dye a wool blanket. The temperature of the water you need will make the blanket fit a doll’s bed.

I’m assuming the blanket is machine washable? If so, you can dye it with Dylon™ cold water dye.

I do not recommend using Rit™ Dye. It isn’t colorfast. I once dyed a pair of jeans with Rit and they turned my legs black every time I wore them — even after many washings. I finally just threw the jeans in the trash.

I suggest using a dark color…you’ll have better luck covering the icon.

If you’d like to buy Dylon here are some shopping links for you:

The icon will probably still show through the dye. It might be less noticeable, tho.

that is not going to work. the dye is going to cover differently over the icon. Even black dye is going to take differently over the icon and the rest of the blanket. You will still see the icon.
