So my blankets need to be washed and i dont know what im doing. i have these 3 really thin blankets that were on my matress and a couple of pillow cases. the blankets are kinda large though. is that too much for a washing machine? ive overflowed a washing machine once before because i didnt know what i was doing, so hopefully you guys can help.

If your washing machine is a large capacity you should be able to wash one blanket at a time with no problem. If your washing machine is a smaller size you should probably just take your blankets to a laundry mat.
Wash them each separately if your that worried about overflowing the machine. If you need 3 of them on your bed at once, I doubt they will too big one at a time.
A couple of hints. First, wash them separately. Second, fill the washing machine with the soap and water first so that the detergent mixes thoroughly with the water before you feed in the blankets. Third, use enough detergent for a full capacity load. Put the machine on a faster agitation cycle than just regular and feed in the blanket evenly around the center post as it is agitating. This is so that you don’t overload the drum with the blanket being unevely distributed which will throw the machine off balance when it goes into the spin cycle. I usually put my machine on a two rinse cycle to make certain all of the soap is rinsed out of large items. Dry the blankets separately as well so that they get enough air flow to completely dry them. I like to use either a cup of vinegar in the rinse water or a dryer softener sheet in the dryer so the blankets come out static free and comfy.
If your blankets are large wash them one at a time. Otherwise, unless you have a very small washer you can usually wash 2 at a time. You will just have to keep an eye on it to make sure it is agitating. That’s one way to tell if the machine is over loaded. Also, if your blankets aren’t as clean as you would like (this is because there is not enough room for the blanket to move around in the water and get clean ~ over loaded).
As long as you don’t over do the washing powder you shouldn’t have a problem with the machine over flowing.
