Woolrich blankets come from a rich tradition. Woolrich has been synonymous with quality outdoor clothing for over 178 years. The company got its start in 1830 when John Rich, an immigrant from England, built his first woolen mill in Plum Run, Pennsylvania. Rich would visit the lumber camps that dotted the area and sell his woolen fabric, socks, coverlets, and yarn from a mule cart.
By 1845, he built a new mill a couple of miles up the road next to Chatham Run, which provided a steadier source of water. That building exists today as part of the group of buildings, homes, and community establishments that have become Woolrich, Pennsylvania.
The tradition of custom designed woolens dates back to our founder, John Rich, who, in 1830, constructed his first woolen mill in Plum Run, Pennsylvania. By 1845, he expanded and moved to what is now Woolrich, Pennsylvania.
That same quality, attention to detail, and function can be found today in every fiber of Woolrich wool. No other mill has more experience with wool.
When looking at Woolrich blankets, the reviews cant be more positive. Overall, people have said that they have found the blankets to be simple looking, and sometimes not much to look at. But, that is where thigns change. Woolrich blankets are known to be very warm, and you can keep out alot of cold by simply using one of these items.
Here is an excerpt from an Amazon review recently. “Since there are no other reviews of this blanket, I will try to be very impartial. Not too easy to do when dealing with something as amazing as this. When it arrived, I was a little disappointed. Compared to some of the fancy comforters and quilts on the market at a fraction of the cost, it seemed a little ordinary for something that was so expensive. Then, we used it. Wow. We usually turn the heat off at around six PM. By the time we hit the sack, the house is in the low sixty degree range. By morning it is in the fifties. This blanket keeps both my wife and myself warm as toast. Just the blanket and a sheet. Pretty amazing. You wouldn’t believe it just to look at the blanket. Usually we have to pile on both a quilt and bedspread to keep comfortable, which is bulky and can get too warm. Also, from what I’ve read about Hudson’s Bay Blankets, it will last just about forever. I have had a hard time keeping warm these past few winters, and wish I had gotten this blanket years ago. You won’t mind the cost once you have used it a few times.”
Overall, the things that peopel love about the Woolrich blankets are that they can keep you really warm. They offer excellent quality, and insulation.
